red oak, this style of chest was found from the 1200s to the 1600s.

| A top view of the Ark shows that the hinges of the Ark are part of the same piece of wood
as the side of the lid. All joints are pinned with hardwood dowels and reinforced
with hide glue. 3 coats of Boiled Linseed oil will keep this chest
solid even in the humidity of early morning camping. |
