The Ball and Chain, though used extensively in modern movies, was actually used very little in period.  It is included here because of it's popularity as a reenactment prop, not because of it's authenticity.   The manacle is made from 3/4 x 1/8 inch steel. The heavy weight chain is attached to a reclaimed bowling ball with an eye-screw . All metal is blackened and finished with beeswax.
